The Phenomenon of Social Shopping: DHL on the Latest Trends in E-commerce
DHL eCommerce has published initial findings from its global survey on online shopping trends. The Online Shopper Trends Report 2024, which surveyed 12,000 shoppers from 24 countries, highlighted key e-commerce trends and underscored the growing popularity of shopping via social networks, particularly in Asia. Another important trend is mobile commerce: approximately 57% of online shoppers use their smartphones as their primary device for purchases. App-based platforms like Shein and Temu have gained immense popularity worldwide due to the wide range of products available, user-friendly interface, and affordable prices. Moreover, 65% of global shoppers emphasize the importance of knowing the delivery service before making a purchase. Today's online shoppers pay close attention to prices and seek affordable, flexible, and convenient delivery options. For instance, it was found that 41% of respondents abandon their online cart due to costly delivery. The report's results highlight that online shoppers value varied delivery options, and some are willing to pay more for prompt delivery of their orders. Surveyed consumers underscore the importance of transparency and trust in the delivery process, as well as the importance of knowing which logistics partner will handle their orders.
