DHL’s Most Unusual Deliveries of 2025: How Global Logistics Changes Lives, Supports Art, and Inspires the World

As we look back on 2025, DHL highlights five of its most extraordinary and emotionally significant deliveries — from rare wildlife and large‑scale art installations to legendary sports memorabilia. These stories show that logistics is far more than moving cargo from point A to point B.

Rare Antelopes Return to Kenya After a 13,000 km Journey

In February, DHL carried out a unique transport mission: 17 mountain bongos were flown from Florida to a wildlife sanctuary near Mount Kenya. This species of antelope is critically endangered — fewer than 100 remain in the wild.

A dedicated aircraft equipped with custom-built crates was provided for the journey. A veterinarian and bongo specialists monitored the animals around the clock. In their new sanctuary, the antelopes can safely breed, and their offspring may one day return to the wild.

A Helmet Signed by 20 Formula 1® Champions, Including Michael Schumacher

In spring 2025, DHL delivered a one‑of‑a‑kind racing helmet created for a charitable initiative. All 20 living Formula 1® world champions signed it. The most touching moment came when Michael Schumacher added his initials “M.S.” with the help of his wife Corinna.

The delivery route included Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. A replica of the helmet was later raffled to support the Race Against Dementia foundation.

151 “Buddy Bears” Travel from Germany to Singapore

In summer, DHL transported 151 two‑meter‑tall bear sculptures from the United Buddy Bears project. Each sculpture is created by an artist from a different country, symbolizing culture, unity, and tolerance. The total shipment weighed 37 tons. The bears were packed into eight sea containers and shipped from Hamburg to Singapore, where the exhibition was displayed for two months.

Saving Saadoon: A Young Baboon Gets a Second Chance

In November, DHL transported a young baboon named Saadoon from Bahrain to Djibouti. He had been rescued as a victim of illegal wildlife trade. After a year of rehabilitation, Saadoon needed an environment suitable for his species. DHL ensured a safe flight with veterinary supervision. Today, he lives in a specialized sanctuary and is adapting to life among other baboons.

CONMEBOL Libertadores Trophy Delivered to Peru for the Year’s Biggest Match

At the end of November, DHL delivered the iconic CONMEBOL Libertadores trophy — one of the most prestigious football awards in the world. The journey began at CONMEBOL headquarters in Paraguay and ended in Lima, where the final match took place. The trophy traveled in a custom metallic case with a security lock, and staff handled it exclusively with gloves to preserve its flawless shine.

These five stories demonstrate that logistics is not just about transporting goods. It is work that helps protect endangered species, support global art initiatives, inspire sports fans, and give new life to those who need it most.
