DHL surveyed over 11,500 active online shoppers from 23 countries across the globe, and has produced Online Shopper Survey alongside with the European Online Shopper Survey 2023.The shoppers were asked about a wide range of subjects, from their cross-border buying behavior to their attitudes to delivery and returns, to their views on sustainability. Their answers reveal the truth about their expectations of their current online shopping experience and what they want from it in the future. The survey covers all six major global markets: Europe, North America, Latin America (LATAM), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), and Asia Pacific and China (APAC).

Below are several findings we’ve highlighted from the report:
- Over 60% of shoppers globally have bought clothing and footwear online from another country.
- 70% of shoppers said knowing the delivery provider before buying was important, with 43% ready to abandon their purchase if they didn’t trust them.
- 98% of shoppers in the survey said they were influenced by customer reviews.
- More than 70% said sustainability was important and 49% are prepared to wait longer for their goods to be delivered, if it helps the environment.
